Grenada will be building a new teaching hospital in partnership with St George’s University, according to Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell.
In a statement, the government said it had secured backing for the project from overseas partners including China.
“We are ready to go, Sisters and Brothers,” Mitchell told a town hall meeting in New York this weekend. “The benefits are going to be enormous.”
Mitchell said the project would accomplish two main goals: it would be a “first-class” medical facility and also help propel Grenada as a “serious place of health tourism.”
Mitchell is currently leading a delegation abroad that includes stops in New York, Montreal and Toronto.
